Your tour will be led by Garfield Wint, an experienced tour guide who has spent his life in the jungles and rainforests of Guyana. Garfield has lived and worked in the Amazon for 39 years. After completing his high school studies, Garfield initially decided to venture out to work as a gold miner. This gave him the opportunity to see and experience all areas of the Guyana's jungle. While gold mining got him his start, his first love is exploring Guyana's beautiful outdoors with its fresh air and nature at its best. Enjoying the sound of birds, water falls and nature's produce is what he describes as "Living Life". The jungle has become his safe place!
Now he is focusing on sharing his love for that lifestyle and the beauty of Guyana's jungles, rainforests and native population with others, Leading tours into the jungle gives him the opportunity to show off Guyana's natural beauty, including Tuckite and Kaieteur Falls on the Potaro River and the Yupukari preservation site where many of Guyana's endangered species of wildlife can be found.
Garfield is supported by team of world class tourist guides, trained by Guyana’s Ministry of Tourism, with many years of hiking in the Guyana jungle and a marine captain, certified by the Maritime Safety Division of Guyana, with over 30 years of experience navigating Guyana’s many rivers.
